Winners of the Nigeria Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs) have been announced at a virtual awards ceremony that followed a thought leadership webinar which examined ‘Has the pandemic produced a new type of security or are things just the same? Examining the case of Nigeria.’
The awards have been running for the last 4-years and are organised with the support of Securex West Africa. They serve to recognise and reward companies, people, products and services that have made a significant contribution to the Nigeria security sector and have demonstrated best practice.
The winners were selected from an esteemed panel of judges who scored the nominations independently against set criteria. The judging process is strict and robust and ensures all nominations have an equal and fair chance of success.
All those that were selected as finalists should be extremely proud and especially the winners.
The 2021 Nigeria winners are:
Outstanding In-House Security Manager/Director
Victoria Nkemdilim Ogbuehi PCI, CPP
Coca-Cola HBC Nigeria
Victoria made her first OSPAs appearance in 2019 when she won the coveted ‘Outstanding Female Security Professional’ award while working in law enforcement. Three years on, Victoria has continued to show consistency, dexterity, and doggedness – qualities that make her stand out from the crowd. She never shies away from responsibilities and no matter what new tasks are put before her she embraces them and sees it as an opportunity to continue to learn new and innovative ways of doing things. Victoria is incredibly result-oriented, and her many accomplishments speak for themselves. Just one year after joining Coca-Cola HBC as its Security Operations Manager she was promoted to the strategic role of Senior Risk and Resilience Manager – Nigeria.
Judges noted Victoria’s in-depth knowledge, leadership, diligence and competency in security operations.
Outstanding Contract Security Guarding Company

Outstanding Young Professional
Avril Eyewu-Edero CPP, CFE, CPO, DIPPI
IHS Towers
Avril Eyewu-Edero is a security professional who in the last 10 years has continued to evolve in the industry. Avril started her career as a crime scene and death investigator at the coroner’s office and now works has a forensic investigator. She has carried out over 400 investigations and core security tasks such as security audits. She is also a seasoned facilitator and has conducted over 100 training sessions in forensic, security and investigation including carrying out free training sessions as a means of giving back to the industry. She has delivered papers at security conferences and been a guest to discuss crime and security related issues on TV, newspapers and radio. Judges noted that Avril has shown a commendable commitment to security and mentoring.
