Winners of the 2020 Nigeria OSPAs announced

The presentation of the 2020 Nigeria OSPAs took place virtually on Friday 28th August 2020 as part of an online Thought Leadership Webinar on “The Impact of Covid-19 in Nigeria: what has been the impact and the security response?” organised in partnership with Securex West Africa, and we are delighted to announce the winners.

OSPA winners were selected by an esteemed panel of industry figures who judged entries using the same criteria which is applied across the world.  Each winner demonstrated that they have performed at an exceptional level and has shown their commitment and outstanding performance within the security sector.

The winners of the 2020 Nigeria OSPAs are:

Outstanding In-House Security Manager/Director
Adedeji Oduba
Coca Cola Hellenic Bottling Company

Deji has over 18 years of work experience with 9 years of security management experience in the corporate sectors. He has practiced in different industries and make a mark wherever he has been. He was the first indigenous security manager for Procter & Gamble (the firm that gave him the chance to be who and what he is today) managing the Nigerian market. In less than 2 years he was promoted to the role of Security Manager for the West African market with oversight functions for Ghana, Cameroon, Senegal and Nigeria. He is a seasoned security manager, consultant, and risk manager. While working as a consultant with Control Risks he supported a lot of clients across different sectors – oil & gas, banking, FMCG, pharmaceutical, hospitality, NGOs, engineering to mention a few. He is a support pillar to many up and coming professionals and has lots of mentees. He is looking forward to a day when the Nigerian State will trust corporate security managers to partner the Government in proffering solutions to the many security challenges in the state.

Outstanding Female Security Professional
Hilda Dafe Nwachukwu CPP, PCI
Cummins West Africa

Hilda has 14 years of security management experience in the public and corporate sectors. She was a Senior Officer in Nigeria’s Department of State Services for a decade. She joined Cummins Incorporated in 2017 with responsibility for security operations in West Africa. Hilda handled the designing of the security architecture for Cummins West Africa’s $30 million facility in Lagos, and offices in Accra, Tema and Ivory coast. She holds a master’s degree in criminology and three ASIS International Certifications – CPP, PSP and PCI. Hilda is very passionate about the female professional, smashing the glass ceiling and winning like a ‘’Girl’’.

Vicki has authored over ten publications on security-related issues. She recently received the Distinguished Author Award, HRM from the London Journal Press. She is the first African to receive the Jeff-Griepp Scholarship Award; the first African to win the OSPAs for the ‘outstanding Female Security Professional’ category; the first African woman to win the GSX Exchange Program; the first woman to become ASIS International Young Professionals (YP)  coordinator for Africa. In July 2020, she organized the first YP Africa program that was rated the best ASIS program of African origin with about 500 attendees. Vicki who is passionate about building a resilient YP community is an expert reviewer, conference moderator & speaker.


Outstanding Security Training Initiative
Academy Halogen

ACADEMY HALOGEN, Nigeria’s premier enterprise security risk management institution was established to serve as a policy think tank, a centre of excellence to help drive thought leadership in security strategy and as a professional development centre to build capacity for low, medium and strategic level personnel in the security and allied sectors. In its rich history, the institution has trained about one million individuals in various aspects of security risk management. The academy periodically organizes roundtable WORKSHOPS, which allows professionals, experts, academicians and other categories of thought-leaders to brainstorm and to HELP ARTICULATE better ways to tackle enterprise security risk.


Lifetime Achievement
Dennis Abiye Amachree, MON

Dennis Amachree, MON is a seasoned professional, starting his career in the Nigerian State Security Service and later working with many multinational companies.  Dennis has gained credibility over the years and is a regular keynote speaker at respected security seminars, also appearing as a security analyst on national and international television.  He is regarded by his colleagues as a great mentor in the security industry space.
